OpenCity Projects is a creative studio led by Wendy Gold and Job Rutgers. With our network of talented designers, strategists, planners and storytellers, we create meaningful experiences for people.
Rooted in placemaking, we design physical environments and the service interactions people have in those spaces.
Projects follow a rigorours process, tailored to your unique challenges. We work closely with you to define opportunities, engage in deep research and strategize possibilities. Bsaed on people's insights, we create authentic experiences that align with your brand values and personality. And then we help you to implement final designs down to the fine details to ensure that the original vision is realized.
Through strategic design, we unlock value in human relationships — social intelligence, creativity and innovation.
We provide services across three core practices to craft memorable experiences that respond to people’s needs.
Environment Design
Spatial environments, in public and private settings, for work, health, retail, education and urban realm.
Service Design.
Customer interactions with a service provider across the touchpoints along their journey.
Creative Workshops.
Courses and workshops to upskill teams and drive creativity and innovation.

Every element of the OpenCity Projects visual identity is inspired by the City of Toronto — open and full of possibility. The custom OpenCity “landscapes font” is city-specific. Letterforms are based on architectural footprints of three historic Toronto neighbourhoods — Corktown, St. Lawrence Market and the Distillery District.
The OpenCity Projects website is designed by William Morrisey. It extends the OpenCity Projects identity and visual language and seeks to provide a platform that evokes OpenCity's optimism and playful spirit.
