The virtual residency brought together design students to investigate their role as cultural connectors

OpenCity participated in a workshop, supported by the French Consulate, with two design schools — OCAD University (Toronto) and ENSCI-Les Ateliers (Paris). The virtual residency brought together design students to investigate their role as cultural connectors.

We joined international speakers to share insights from our Design for Diversity projects, providing the students with best practices examples for creating inclusive experiences for culturally diverse communities.

Using integrative design process, student teams identified public spaces in Paris and Toronto where people of different cultures mix including a waterfront, a train station and a marketplace. Viewing culture as an asset, they created design solutions to attract and connect people in an inclusive way.

As part of a review panel, OpenCity participated in presentations by teams in different times zones and provided feedback.
