Weekly Review

Here’s our weekly review rounding up the best stories and ideas in public space from cities around the world. This week we bring you a booming Brooklyn, an app that encourages you to take the long way home and designing parks in downtown LA.

Booming Brooklyn
A report, commissioned by the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, shows that Brooklyn is the fastest growing New York City neighbourhood. The growth is attributed to investment in public parks, a major land use rezoning, and growth in private sector employment and business incubation. (via Next City)

Get lost with this app
In our fast-paced world, we are looking to get from point A to point B in the most efficient way possible. The creators of the Likeways app however want you to slow down and notice your surroundings. Launched last month, the app forgoes typical directions and leads users off the beaten path, where they might stumble upon a café, parkette or gallery. (via City Lab)
