Skate + Park by EFFEKT

LEMVIG
In the spring of 2013, Lemvig Municipality faced a group of citizens eager to transform an empty industrial lot on the city’s harbour front into an area of leisure and recreation. Architect EFFEKT worked closely with representatives from different user groups to develop a new type of urban space. The result of this collaboration was an integrated skatepark + urban park that offered a range of programmatic features and recreational opportunities.  Continue reading

The Big Squeeze

In 2009, Kurt Perschke’s RedBall Project, squeezed its way around the streets and plazas of Abu Dhabi, Taipei, Perth, England, Barcelona, St. Louis, Korea, Portland, Sydney, Arizona, Chicago and Toronto. The engaging and playful project proved to tap into the imagination embedded in the spectator.

See Through Design

The pavilion, made entirely of timber, has been given the name “Gjennomsikten” (“to see through”) due to its transparent character. The varying dimensions of the materials and the viewers position creates varying degrees of transparency and experience of mass. The purpose is to create public awareness of Lahelle, Norway a former industrial lot that despite toxic pollution has become a popular green spot for walks for the locals.  Continue reading
