Feeling the love in Brixton

Celebrating its 15th year, South London’s tree lined Josephine Avenue was once transformed into a bustling open air Urban Art Fair. Over 200 artists take part in the festival, showcasing their work through painting, photography, mixed media and street art. This piece by graphic designer Lilly Lou sent a particularly positive message worth sharing.  Continue reading

Play this giant xylophone in London

London-based pH+ created the temporary structure for the London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy (LCCCP)for this year’s edition of the London Festival of Architecture. The pavilion features walls covered in copper pipes, allowing the building to function as a huge xylophone.  The xylophone-like surfaces frame a pathway that forms the pavilion’s perimeter. Children are invited to pick up small mallets at the entrance, allowing them to make music by striking the walls.

Set in the Street

Brooklyn-based photographer Justin Bettman is turning unwanted and discarded materials into alfresco living rooms in various cities around the world. Set in the Street is a collection of elaborate living room sets erected in public space. After Bettman is finished shooting photos in the spaces, the sets are left up on the street, where passersby are invited to shoot their own photos.  Continue reading
