Invisible Barn

The Invisible Barn by New York-based STPMJ is a design proposal for Folly 2014, an annual competition led by Architectural League of New York and Socrates Sculpture Park. The design is a barn shaped-wooden structure covered with a reflective film on the surface that reflects the surrounding environment, highlighting different species of trees and plants, sky, ground and the seasonal changes of the site. The reflection allows the structure to smoothly assimilate with nature that allows for a novel and interactive experience. Continue reading

Green your Neighbourhood

Lego Block Parklets in Boston

Four new parklets will be popping up around Boston this summer as part of a new program of the Boston Transportation Department. Brooklyn-based Interboro Designs developed a modular design dubbed “ad-blocs”. These plastic blocks can be stacked and combined to form many different settings. Like giant Lego bricks, the ad-blocs have raised and depressed components that let them lock together. Alternatively, the depressions can be used as planters.
