Wendy

Wendy Gold is the Founder of OpenCity Projects. In her 14 years as a creative brand strategist, she has come to view brands as experiences that should be relevant to people who use them. Drawing on consumer marketing and design expertise, Wendy helps clients create people-centred experiences. Projects have ranged from web sitess and retail environments to municipal public spaces.

Currently, Wendy is also President of Gold Brand Consulting, a Toronto-based brand-marketing firm. Prior to founding Gold Brand, she was Senior Director of Brand Strategy at Brandimage New York (formerly Desgrippes Gobé) and Director of Client Services at Landor Associates in the San Francisco and New York offices. She has advised clients from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies on their brand strategy including AOL, BP, Intel, Johnson & Johnson’s OneTouch, Kobo eReader and Travelocity.

Wendy is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Design at OCAD University. She also guest lectures at The Institute without Boundaries (IwB), an academic and research program in the School of Design at George Brown College. In 2009, she was recognized as a rising city leader and selected for the DiverseCity Fellowship by CivicAction and Maytree Foundation.

Wendy holds a Master’s in Journalism from the University of Western Ontario and an Honours Bachelor’s degree in French Literature from McGill University. She is an expert contributor to FutureBrand’s Country Brand Index and has received awards from the AIGA, British Design & Art Direction Annual and the CLIOs.
